Weekends with a story

Themed weekends and short breaks in Italy and Europe: you leave from Milan and come back with a story to tell.

The red Bernina Express train running along Lago Bianco in the mountains 01

Season · year-round, at its best in winter and autumn

Bernina Express

From Tirano to St. Moritz aboard the little red train of the Grisons, a UNESCO World Heritage line: the spiral viaduct at Brusio, glaciers framed in the window, the milky-white Lago Bianco. In winter it runs through a world of snow; in autumn the larches set the Poschiavo valley alight. Leave Milan in the morning, come home with your eyes full.

Autumn-coloured woods and larches in Val di Funes, Dolomites 02

Season · October – November

Autumn foliage

When the woods change colour, a weekend gladly stretches out. Beech and larch forests in the Alps, the vineyards of the Langhe and Chianti, the chestnut groves of the Apennines: you walk slowly, eat well and come home with leaves in your pockets. A gentle pace for anyone who, after summer, wants to properly slow down.

The Oktoberfest tents on the Theresienwiese in Munich 03

Season · late September – early October

Oktoberfest in Munich

Bavaria’s most famous festival on the Theresienwiese meadow: tents the size of cathedrals, brass bands in costume, generous steins and elegant Munich a short walk away, between Marienplatz, the museums and the lawns of the Englischer Garten. We take care of train or flight and hotel: you keep the long tables, the laughter and the slightly hoarse voice on the way home.

Ponte Vecchio and the Arno in Florence at blue hour, seen from Piazzale Michelangelo 04

Season · year-round

Italian art cities

Florence at the hour the museums open, Venice while the vaporetti are still empty, Rome from the rooftops of Trastevere, Turin between historic cafés and the Mole, Naples with an espresso at the counter and Vesuvius in the background. Two or three nights are enough, if someone has already thought about the train, the right hotel and the tickets to book ahead.

The illuminated arches of the Christkindelsmärik, Strasbourg’s Christmas market, at night 05

Season · late November – December

Christmas markets

The scent of mulled wine and cinnamon reaches you before the lights do. Bolzano and the squares of South Tyrol, Alsace with storybook Strasbourg and Colmar, Innsbruck beneath the mountains, Vienna with its markets in front of the Rathaus. Short weekends, long atmosphere: people come back every year, changing city each time.
